Sanitation Barge Fire Prompts FDNY All Hands Response

As Manhattan experienced light showers Thursday morning, flames emerged at a Hudson River sanitation barge.
At 9:47 a.m., the FDNY received reports of a Pier 99 fire at West 59th Street and the Hudson River.
The subsequent all hands operating response included 21 units with 79 fire and EMS personnel.
According to the NYFD, the fire was under control by 11:05 a.m.
The Department of Sanitation New York was also notified and said to be responding to the incident.
As of 11:50 a.m. on Aug. 27, no injuries had been reported.
