Police Make Arrest after Firearm Discharged into Crowd

An 18-year-old man was seen discharging a loaded firearm at 8:35 p.m. on Monday, March 30, in the direction of a group of individuals outside 14 West 107th St. near Manhattan Ave., police reported. The incident resulted in property damage exceeding $250. Donnell Ford was arrested and charged with assault; two guns were recovered along with 9-mm. ammunition. Ford had been approached by an unknown man and struck in the head with what appeared to be a firearm before police arrived at the scene; his assailant took an unknown amount of cash from him. Ford was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside to receive treatment for a head laceration.

Argument, Assault Lead to Boyfriend’s Arrest

A 27-year-old woman living at 929 Amsterdam Ave. at West 106th St. told police that at 5:40 p.m. on Friday, March 20, she and her boyfriend got into a verbal dispute. The argument escalated, and the boyfriend allegedly grabbed her, put his hands around her neck and squeezed, which she claims caused her to begin losing consciousness. According to the police report, the boyfriend then warned her, “Mess with me again; next time I’ll finish the job!” The victim said she feared for her safety, and Rodolfo Juarez was arrested on Tuesday, March 31, and charged with assault.

Police Capture Violent CVS Store Shoplifter

On Saturday, March 28, at 8 a.m., a 35-year-old man tried to take merchandise from the CVS store at 540 Amsterdam Ave. at West 86th St. without paying, according to police. He was approached by store employees, who tried to recover the merchandise. The suspect then struck a male employee with a closed fist in the face, causing a lump, bruises and a minor laceration to the victim’s right hand. The suspect also forcefully pushed a woman employee with both hands, causing her to fall to the floor, resulting in bruising and swelling on both her arms. Frantz Taylor was arrested and charged with robbery. The 12-pack of Heineken he had stolen was valued at $20.

Woman Reports Jewelry, Sneakers Missing from Residence

A 37-year-old woman living at 740 West End Ave. near West 96th St. reported that in the period between 5 p.m. on Monday, February 2, and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, two watches and some sneakers went missing from her residence. When she went to get some of her jewelry for an upcoming trip, those pieces also were gone. Later she discovered more items were missing. Apparently, there were no signs of forced entry. The items stolen included a 24-karat gold necklace with an Allah pendant, a ruby pendant with diamonds, a 24-karat gold necklace choker, a pair of 24-karat gold hoop earrings and a 24-karat gold butterfly ring, totaling $39,550.

Man Takes Out Student Loans Without Dad’s Permission

A 42-year-old man living on Columbus Ave. reported that in the period between Friday, December 19, 2024, and Thursday, March 12, 2026, his son used the father’s personal information to take out student loans without permission or authority. The total amount of the unauthorized loans came to $15,383, and the father said that two of the loans were now in default.
