The RNC turns an unlikely green

WHY DIDN'T THE Green Party think of this when they held their 2000 Super Rallies? The NYC Host Committee announced last week that all energy consumed by Madison Square Garden during the Republican National Convention will be purchased from the Fenner wind farm in upstate Madison County, courtesy of ConEd's alt-energy program "Solutions." The total amount provided over the convention's four days is 474 megawatt hours-or what 110 average NYC apartments use over the course of an entire year. Who knows, if the lights don't dim or flicker during the speeches, maybe this taste of renewables will give the GOP some new ideas about energy policy.
