    Knife-Wielding Intruder Terrorizes Senior in His Apartment

    A 64-year-old man told police that at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 29, he was sitting on his bed in his apartment at 206 West 92nd St. between Broadway and Amsterdam Ave. watching TV when an unknown man entered the apartment through the unlocked front door, displayed a kitchen knife and placed it at the victim’s throat while putting a pair of the victim’s pants over his face to cover his eyes. The suspect said, “Where’s the money? I’ll kill you. Keep your eyes closed!” The suspect then ransacked the victim’s room searching for money for twenty to thirty minutes before walking out of the apartment without taking any property. Fortunately, the victim sustained no injuries.

    Senior Mugged on West 92nd St.

    According to police, at 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, a 71-year-old man was walking home when an unknown man came from behind him outside 166 West 92nd St. near Amsterdam Ave. and put him in a headlock, applying pressure to his throat. The victim lost consciousness. When he came to, he discovered that $460 in cash was missing from his pants pocket. The victim complained of throat pain, but was evaluated by an EMS team at the scene and he refused medical attention.

    Man Arrested After Assaulting Senior Woman

    A 70-year-old woman reported that at 11:30 p.m. on Monday, May 30, she got into a verbal argument with an intoxicated 54-year-old man that turned physical inside 830 Amsterdam Ave. at West 100th St. The man pushed her, causing her to fall and sustain injuries to her lower back and head. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside, and Russell Taylor was arrested and charged with assault.

    Police Nab Man Who Maced Acquaintance

    Police stated that at 7:20 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, a 57-year-old man entered an apartment at 2612 Broadway near West 98th St. and maced a 54-year-old male acquaintance, causing substantial pain and injury to the victim’s eyes. The suspect also struck the victim several times on his head, causing considerable pain, swelling and a minor laceration. James Bentley was arrested and charged with assault, but the victim refused medical attention at the scene.

    Abusive Boyfriend Collared

    A 30-year-old woman told police that at 6 a.m. on Friday, June 3, she asked her 32-year-old boyfriend for $30 inside 868 Amsterdam Ave. at West 102nd St., and he started cursing her out. He then punched her about the face, causing injuries to her right cheek and nose. He also grabbed her by the neck, causing an abrasion. The victim sustained injuries, scratches to her nose, right cheek and chest, as well as an abrasion to her neck. Vance Thomas was arrested and charged with assault.
