Items Stolen from Parked SUV
A 54-year-old man told police that at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 29, he parked his SUV opposite 23 Riverside Dr. at West 75th St. When he returned at 3 p.m. the following day he discovered that his rear passenger’s-side trunk window had been shattered, the rear passenger’s-side door was ajar and items had been removed from the vehicle. The stolen belongings included a gold-plated Dupont lighter, an iPhone 5s, four ceramic plates and two pairs of sunglasses totaling $1,203.
Wallet Taken from Bag Inside Restaurant
Police reported that at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, a 33-year-old woman was eating inside the Miriam Restaurant at 300 Amsterdam Ave. near West 74th St. when she felt some movement behind her. She turned around to see what had happened but saw no one, nor did she see anything out of place. Ten minutes later, however, she discovered that her wallet had been taken from her bag, which she had hung on the back of her chair. She canceled her credit and debit cards immediately, and, fortunately, no unauthorized charges turned up. Property taken included cash, a vaccination card, a black wallet, a New York City ID and other items totaling $130.
TLC Driver Arrested for Attempted Theft of E-Bike
A 20-year-old deliveryman reported that at 1:52 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, he was making a food delivery to 60 Riverside Dr. between West 78th St. and West 79th St. When he returned to his e-bike just three minutes later he discovered that it was missing. Happily, the e-bike was recovered by officers at West 64th St. and Freedom Pl. when the suspect, a 30-year-old man, attempted to drive off and fell off the vehicle. The two-wheeler stolen and recovered was valued at $1,500. Video surveillance footage later showed that prior to the theft the suspect had been driving a black Toyota bearing a Taxi and Limousine Commission license plate.
A 35-year-old male employee of the Sephora store at 2103 Broadway near West 73rd St. reported that at 6:03 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, a 30-year-old man entered the location, removed fragrances from a display and concealed them in his pants pockets before leaving the store bypassing all points of sale and heading in an unknown direction. The stolen merchandise included eleven fragrances totaling $1,270.
Moviegoer’s Bag Disappears
According to police, at 7:35 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, a 41-year-old man placed his bag next to him inside the AMC Theaters at 2310 Broadway at West 84th St. When the feature ended at 9:05 p.m. the moviegoer discovered that his bag was gone. A search of the theater proved fruitless. The stolen belongings included the bag, a house key, book, umbrella and New York State ID of no stated value, as well as various health, debit and credit cards.
