Police Arrest Shoplifting Suspects Who Assaulted Others Outside CVS Pharmacy
A 26-year-old employee of the CVS Pharmacy at 200 W. 96th St., at Amsterdam Avenue, told police that at 12:55pm on Tuesday, May 13, a 21-year-old woman and a 14-year-old boy came into the store, took AriZona Juice and a Hi-Chew candy bar without paying and then went out to the street. There they began to hit two victims with closed fists and a brown belt, causing physical injuries, before fleeing the scene. One of the victims refused medical attention while the other was taken to the hospital for further evaluation. Lois J. Redmond, plus her underage male companion, were arrested and charged with robbery. The value of the items stolen from the store amounted to $4.
Man Mugged at Marijuana Buy
A man of unstated age reported that at 4:10pm on Saturday, May 17, he was meeting a stranger to conduct a marijuana transaction inside 157 Manhattan Ave., at West 107th Street. There he was led into a lobby, when four men walked down some stairs and punched and kicked him on the face and head. One of the suspects had a silver firearm, which he used to strike the victim in the face, causing serious physical injury. The suspects then took the victim’s property, including an iPhone, a black wallet, cash, and a pair of Apple headphones, totaling $1,235.
MTA Bus Rider Shoots Woman Waiting to Board
On Thursday, May 8, outside 476 CPW, an MTA bus driver told police that a man and a woman had boarded the vehicle at West 111th Street and Eighth Avenue at 8:30pm. When the bus got to West 108th Street and Central Park West, the pair signaled to exit. The driver opened the door, and the man pulled out a silver firearm while standing at the door and fired three rounds into the sidewalk, wounding a 55-year-old woman trying to board the bus. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside and treated for an injury to her right hip. The suspect pair fled on West 107th Street, and police couldn’t find them in the neighborhood later.
Woman Arrested for Assaulting Stranger on Street
A 65-year-old man filed a police report stating that at 2:32pm on Tuesday, May 13, an unknown woman punched him in the face multiple times with a closed fist outside 166 W. 92nd St., at Amsterdam Avenue, causing him to bleed from his nose and breaking a lens on his eyeglasses, valued at $150. Jennesy Guzman, 36, was soon arrested and charged with assault.
Police Seek Trio Who Attacked Deli Employee and Destroyed Merchandise
A 38-year-old male employee of the Columbia Deli at 945 Amsterdam Ave., near West 106th Street, told police that at 1:35am on Sunday, May 11, three men apparently known to him came into the store and destroyed merchandise while one of them struck him with a bat on the right arm and shoulder, causing pain and bruising. The three intruders then fled in a navy blue van heading westbound on West 107th Street. The employee refused medical attention on the scene, and police were unable to find the suspects following the incident. The value of the merchandise destroyed amounted to $103.
