    Man in Need of Aid Stabs EMS Worker in Ambulance

    According to police, at 8:52 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19, a 25-year-old female EMS worker was rendering aid to a 48-year-old man in the rear of an ambulance at the northwest corner of Columbus Ave. and West 59th St. when the man stabbed her repeatedly with a kitchen knife. The EMS worker was immediately removed to Mount Sinai West for treatment of the stab wounds she sustained to the back of her left thigh and under her left breast. Her assailant, who was not identified by police, was arrested and charged with assault.

    Motorist Punches Delivery Man, Steals Food Order

    Police reported that at 7:05 p.m. on Monday, July 24, a 52-year-old delivery man was stopped at a red light in front of 523 Amsterdam Ave. at West 85th St. when a 30-year-old man got out of a black 2019 Nissan sedan, punched the delivery man in the right side of his head and stomach and then took the food order from the victim’s bike. The suspect then got back into the Nissan and took off northbound on Amsterdam. A 27-year-old male witness to the incident said he heard the suspect say, “You hit my car!” before stealing the food. The victim refused medical attention at the scene. The stolen food was valued at $72.

    Senior Victimized in Fake FBI Scam

    A 75-year-old woman living on West 72nd St. said that at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 19, she received a text on her iPad stating that a Trojan horse had been detected on that device and she should call a phone number given. She called and was told by an unknown man that the FBI was looking for her because she was wanted for human trafficking and child pornography. She was further instructed to withdraw $120,000 cash to take care of the problem and meet the alleged FBI agents in person to hand over the money. She made three separate trips to deliver the cash, encountering one man in a vehicle near the 72nd St. Broadway subway station and another man in a vehicle in front of her building.

    Parked Honda and Contents Stolen

    A 26-year-old man told police that at 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, he parked his 72-year-old father’s black 2020 Honda Accord opposite 103 West 77th St. near Columbus Ave. When he returned to the car the following morning he found it was missing. A license plate reader camera showed the vehicle heading outbound over the Macombs Dam Bridge at 3:02 a.m. In addition to the car, valued at $23,000, other stolen items inside the car included a Tumi bag, a marble wood cake platter, a marble glass cloche platter, a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses and a pair of Calto dress shoes, making a total loss of $23,760.

    Burglar Breaks into Woman’s Home on West 75th Street

    A 35-year-old woman living on West 75th St. reported that at 4:56 a.m. on Monday, July 17, a 40-year-old man used an unidentified tool to pry open the door of her residence and gain entry. He then took some of her belongings before leaving the premises. The stolen property included a Ryobi leaf blower and two debit cards, totaling $1,199. The victim canceled both cards to prevent further losses.
