Bicyclist Injures Pedestrian in Avocado Attack
A 31-year-old man said that at 8:15 p.m. on July 10, fifteen to twenty bike riders were heading eastbound on Cathedral Pkwy. As the man was walking by 500 Cathedral Pkwy. near Amsterdam Ave., one of the group threw an avocado in his face, causing bleeding, swelling and redness. The suspect took off eastbound on Cathedral, and the victim was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside for treatment.
Young Man Slashed on Riverside Drive
A 21-year-old man told police that at 3:15 p.m. on July 12, he was traveling southbound on Riverside Dr. when he stopped to talk to two women who were sitting next to an individual of unknown gender at Riverside Dr. and West 94th St. The individual sitting next to the women approached the 21-year-old, and they began to fight. The individual then pulled out a black box cutter and slashed the victim, causing lacerations to his left arm. The suspect was last seen fleeing northbound on Riverside while the victim was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside.
Mother Arrested After Assaulting Teen Daughter
According to police, at 8:50 p.m. on July 4, a verbal dispute about food between a 14-year-old girl and her 40-year-old mother escalated in their apartment at 133 West 90th St. near Amsterdam Ave. The mother then punched her daughter several times with a closed fist and also struck her over her head with a mirror, causing pain. The girl showed no visible injuries but was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside for further evaluation and treatment, and the Administration for Children’s Services was notified. Isamarie Maldonado was subsequently arrested and charged with assault.
Police Pick Up Woman Who Choked Acquaintance
A 33-year-old woman attested that at 6 p.m. on July 4, she was sitting on a bench at Riverside Dr. and West 88th St. when a 28-year-old female acquaintance came up to her and began a dispute. The acquaintance then slapped the 33-year-old in the face with an open hand. The latter tried to push the acquaintance away, but the acquaintance grabbed the victim by the neck, causing pain and a red mark, though the victim didn’t lose consciousness. Annilis Salazar was arrested on July 9, and charged with assault.
Senior Pushed to Ground by Female Stranger
Police reported that at 7 p.m. on June 22, a 57-year-old female stranger pushed an 80-year-old woman to the ground outside 149 Manhattan Ave. near West 107th St., causing swelling, bruising and redness to the senior’s right arm and pain to her buttocks and lower back. The victim refused medical attention at the scene but did get medical attention later. Her alleged assailant, Ada L. Valdez, was arrested on July 12, and charged with assault.
