    Man Stabbed by Stranger inside Deli

    According to police, at 8:20 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, a 46-year-old man was inside the Sammy Deli at 901 Columbus Ave. at West 104th St. paying for an item at the register when someone punched him in the face from behind. When he turned around he saw a man with a knife. The suspect stabbed him several times, causing small wounds to the victim’s lower left abdomen, the right side of his neck and the left side of his face. The suspect then left the location without saying anything, heading eastbound on West 104th St., and the victim was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside for treatment. He told police he had never seen the suspect before and had said nothing to provoke him.

    Argument over $20 Leads to Violence

    A 21-year-old woman living at 589 Amsterdam Ave. at West 88th St. told police that at 9:55 a.m. on Friday, May 19, she was having an argument with her ex boyfriend, her child’s father, over $20. The boyfriend became upset when she was not counting the money fast enough so he dragged her out of bed and choked her. He then left the apartment but returned and snatched a $300 chain she was wearing around her neck. Police are still seeking him for questioning.

    Shoplifting Suspect Threatens Market Employee, Gets Arrested

    An employee of the Central Markets at 300 Cathedral Pkwy. near Central Park West told police that at 11:10 a.m. on Thursday, May 18, he saw a 26-year-old man take packages of meat and place them inside a bag. When the man then tried to leave the store without paying, the employee tried to get the items back. At this point the suspect took out a screwdriver and said “Don’t f*cking touch me, or I’m a stab you!” making the employee fear for his safety. Leonard Wisewhite was soon arrested and charged with robbery. The value of the meat he had taken came to $74.49.

    Senior Robbed in Park by Knife-Wielding Stranger

    A 65-year-old man reported that at 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, he was inside Riverside Park near Riverside Dr. and West 108th St. when a male stranger approached from behind on his left side. The senior turned toward the stranger, who then displayed a silver knife, reached inside the senior’s left front pocket and took out his wallet before fleeing on foot. Police searched the neighborhood but couldn’t find the suspect. The items stolen included various credit cards and a wallet with a total value of $1,800.

    Man Collared after Assaulting Ex-Wife on Street

    A 65-year-old woman stated that at 5:20 p.m. on Monday, May 15, she was at the intersection of Columbus Ave. and Cathedral Pkwy. when she got into a verbal dispute with her 54-year-old ex husband, who then kicked her and forced her to the ground, causing a small laceration and bruising on her left knee. She refused medical attention at the scene, and Vladimir Jersovas was arrested and charged with felony assault.
