Citi Bank Hosts ‘Green Day’ in Hudson River Park for Volunteers
65 volunteers gathered at Hudson River Park, on Pier 25, for a day of working and gardening the park’s green spaces.
Banking giant Citi hosted their annual ‘Citi Family Day’ at the Hudson River Park (HRPK), collaborating with the park’s Green Team.
The event on Saturday June 6, was part of Citi’s sponsorship of the park’s volunteer program. Through this program, the Green Team participates in monthly community volunteer days, working towards ‘horticultural maintenance projects throughout Hudson River Park.’
For the 65 volunteers that participated in the day, activities ranged from planting, weeding, pruning, and prepping soil for the park’s greenery, while also ensuring the park’s cleanliness and maintaining its ‘picturesque waterside landscape.’
Hudson River Park, which spans Tribeca to the Upper West Side alongside the Hudson River, is Manhattan’s second largest park after Central Park. Pier 25 is one of many outlets in the park, extending its green spaces into the river itself. The park has two volunteer teams: Green, which focuses on the parks, and Blue, which focuses on the waterfront.
Volunteers included families, groups of friends, and community members of all ages. The next volunteer day, which requires an email sign-up, is July 18 for the Green Team.
