A taxi cab flipped onto its side around W. 77th and Broadway on Oct. 22, authorities confirmed to The Spirit. Both the NYPD and the FDNY noted that a 79 year-old was taken to Weill Medical Cornell, in stable condition. It appears that he was the vehicle’s driver as of press time, although it was unclear as to whether he had a valid license. No passenger was in the vehicle.
The same footage, taken around noon when the accident occurred, showed responding FNDY units removing the man out of the damaged vehicle. He was then placed on a gurney and taken to an ambulance. A large crowd can be seen gathered around the scene of the accident, as evidenced in multiple bystander videos.
Police noted that an investigation was ongoing, and that there were no arrests.
