Police identified the two bodies as Jessica Harvey and Kareem Abdelkareem, aged 35 and 19, respectively. Harvey was discovered around E. 23rd St. on Friday, August 2, after a 911 caller reported spotting her body at E. 81st St. Two days later, on August 4, Abdelkareem was founded floating in the Harlem River at around E. 106th St.

Police have identified the remains of the two deceased individuals who were pulled from Manhattan rivers in separate incidents over a 48-hour period over the weekend.
Police identified the woman who was pulled from the East River on Aug. 2 as Jessica Harvey, 35, a resident of E. 78th St. The city’s medical examiner has yet to determine a cause of death, and no foul play is suspected.
Two days later, on Aug. 4, another body was found floating in the Harlem River at around 9:36 a.m., near 106th St. in East Harlem. Police identified the male body as 19 year-old Kareem Abdelkareem. An investigation likewise remains ongoing, and no arrests have been made.
A 911 caller reported the first sighting of the first body in the East River around E. 81st St. at 10:51 a.m. The body was not pulled from the water by responding units from the NYPD’s Harbor Unit until she reached the vicinity of E. 23rd St., cops said. She had likely been dragged nearly 60 blocks southward by the strong tidal currents in the East River. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
Both deaths are believed to be from drowning, but the medical examiner has yet to establish the official cause of either death.
