Ex-Boyfriend Arrested after Dispute Gets Violent
A 22-year-old man told police that at 3:50 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, he and his 20-year-old ex-boyfriend got into a verbal argument inside 830 Columbus Ave. at West 102nd St. that turned physical when he punched his ex and the ex charged at him, slamming him into a gate and putting him on the ground. The ex then began punching the victim in the head before kicking him in the head. The victim sustained injuries to his forehead, including a laceration that required seven stitches, and said he felt pain in his back, elbow and head. Jameik B. Morris was arrested on Tuesday, May 12, and charged with assault.
Victim Lies to Police about Street Assault
A 68-year-old man reported that at 1 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, he was in the street outside 700Amsterdam Ave. at West 94th St. when two strangers of unknown age and gender punched him in his face multiple times, causing lacerations and heavy bleeding. The victim said he didn’t know why he was hit or who hit him. He was taken to the hospital, and police were unable to find his assailants in the neighborhood. Further investigation revealed that the assault was not unprovoked as alleged but rather the result of a prior interaction that began as a narcotics transaction.
Ice Cream Vendor Strikes Senior
According to police, at 5:01 p.m. on Monday, May 11, a 72-year-old man approached a 50-year-old man working in an ice cream truck at the intersection of Central Park West and West 89th St., saying he couldn’t park his truck there and would report the ice cream vendor to the Department of Environmental Protection. The vendor became irate and told the senior, “I’m going to kill you!” before striking him with a hard plastic container multiple times on his right arm. The victim said he felt pain but showed no visible injuries and refused medical attention. Ehab E. Shehata was arrested on Wednesday,May 13, and charged with assault.
Police Seek Bleach-Throwing Next-Door Neighbor
A woman living at 454 Central Park West at West 105th St. alleged that at 9 p.m. on Monday, May 11, her 38-year-old female next-door neighbor was banging on walls and doors, frightening her newborn with the racket. When the mother confronted her neighbor in the hall, the neighbor became irate and sprayed bleach on the victim’s face while she was standing in her apartment doorway, putting the victim and her newborn at risk of a chemical burn. The victim did suffer irritation, burning and redness and flushed her face with water before EMS arrived but refused medical attention. The suspect didn’t answer knocks on her door when police officers arrived, and police said they would follow up on the incident.
Erratic Driving Leads to Road Rage Incident and Arrest
Police said that at 1:16 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, a 68-year-old male motorist witnessed a 51-year-old man driving very erratically, switching lanes in front of him several times. The senior then cut his car in front of the suspect’s car at Columbus Ave. and West 97th St. to confront him. Both drivers got out of their vehicles, and after a verbal dispute the younger driver began punching the senior in the head several times. The senior suffered minor injuries, including a small laceration and bleeding. Medoune Diagne was arrested and charged with assault.
