A 16 year-old teenage boy was shot in the left shoulder near Times Square on Halloween, with “several” persons of interest taken into custody by the NYPD. An 18 year-old suspect was initially arrested, according to cops and The Daily News. However, the NYPD has since confirmed that there are “no arrests on file.” Any suspects, therefore, remain at large.

The incident–which happened just after 11 p.m. on Oct. 31–occurred in front of 234 W. 44th St., the address of the famous Theater District restaurant Sardi’s. It is not clear what sort of dispute preceded the shooting. Diners at Sardi’s told the New York Post that they initially believed what they had witnessed was a Halloween prank.

The victim was rushed by EMS workers to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue, where he reportedly remains in stable condition.
